Deploy Applications and Services Inside Your Network

OptimusHub gives teams a self-hosted way to deploy applications, databases, and supporting services in on-premises and air-gapped environments, with controlled access and auditable operations. Deploy onto resources you already have, or let the same platform provision the VMs and Kubernetes clusters first.

How a deployment works, from source to day-two operations.

01

What you start with

An entry from the application, database, or monitoring catalogs, a Helm chart, a Docker Compose definition, or code in your Git service built and delivered through the built-in CI/CD engine.

02

Where it can run

On Kubernetes clusters with Helm, as Docker containers or Compose stacks on Docker hosts, or as services running directly on Linux machines over SSH. Existing clusters connect with a kubeconfig.

03

What OptimusHub provisions

If the target does not exist yet, OptimusHub can provision VMs through your virtualization platform with request and approval, deploy Kubernetes clusters, and install runtimes and tools such as Docker and Helm.

04

How it is triggered

From the catalog in the web interface or the opti CLI, or from a CI/CD pipeline started by a push webhook, pull request, schedule, or another pipeline, optionally behind manual or second-person approval gates.

05

How it is operated afterward

Live deployment logs, Helm release management, pod exec, node cordon and drain, threshold alerts, and database backup policies, from the same interface that deployed it.

06

Who can do what

Role-based access control, including namespace-level access on Kubernetes, decides who can deploy where. Every deployment is recorded in the audit trail with its target machine, environment, and Helm release.

The application catalog

Catalog entries such as Docker Compose and Helm chart deployments are the starting point for most application deployments.

Prerequisites and limits

A practical fit when
  • You need to deploy applications, databases, and supporting services inside your own network
  • Some or all of that network has no route to the public internet
  • You want VMs, clusters, and the software on them handled from one platform with one audit trail
Know before you start
  • OptimusHub itself needs a host that can run Docker
  • VM provisioning requires a virtualization platform connection; deploying onto existing hosts and clusters does not
  • In air-gapped networks, the images and packages your own workloads need must be available inside the network first
  • It is self-hosted software, not a managed service that operates your environment for you

Frequently asked questions

Do we need an existing Kubernetes cluster?
No. OptimusHub can deploy a Kubernetes cluster, or you can connect an existing one with a kubeconfig. You can also deploy to Docker hosts or Linux machines without Kubernetes.
Do we need an existing Git service?
Not necessarily. Teams can use an existing Git service or deploy one through OptimusHub.
Can applications be deployed without internet access?
Yes. The platform needs no outbound connectivity. See application deployment in air-gapped environments for what to prepare before disconnecting.
